It was one of those tips I learned while at Idyllwild art academy.
It always seemed so straight forward but, for me at least, that rule helped so much! It's like when we think of a spine we think curvy so we end up making the whole torso curvy with it, which isn't how the actual movement of the body works visually.
For me it’s sometimes the opposite where I end up making the spine stiff because I don't know where it bends.
